Capital One Quicksilver Review
4.4 / 5
The Capital One Quicksilver is a very good everyday rewards card for people with good credit. Thanks to benefits that include a $0 annual fee, an intro APR, and a straightforward 1.5 - 5% cash back on purchases, the Quicksilver Card is well worth it.
In addition, the Quicksilver Cardhas a $0 foreign transaction fee and a nice initial rewards bonus: $200 for new cardholders who spend $500 within 3 months of opening an account.
As a result,if you want a low-maintenance, low-cost rewards card, the Capital One Quicksilver Credit Card is one of the options that WalletHub recommends. Below, we’ll summarize the main factors to consider before submitting a Capital One Quicksilver Card application.
What I Like About the Capital One Quicksilver Card
$200 Initial Bonus
The Capital One Quicksilver Card’s $200 initial bonus is one of the easiest initial bonuses to earn, despite not being among the biggest available. All you have to do is spend at least $500 within 3 months of opening an account. That works out to 40% cash back, which isn’t too shabby at all.
No Annual Fee
The Quicksilver Card’s $0 annual fee saves you around$22.29 per year compared to the average credit card. You won’t feel pressured to use your Quicksilver Card just to break even, either.
No Foreign Fees
Like all other Capital One credit cards, the Quicksilver Card does not charge foreign transaction fees. That’s one reason it’s among 2024’s best credit cards for international travel, according to WalletHub’s editors. Using a credit card with no international fees such as Capital One Quicksilver for purchases made abroad, rather than converting hard currency, can also save you up to 89% on international spending, according to WalletHub's analysis.
0% Intro APRs
Capital One Quicksilver currently offers intro APRs of 0% for 15 months on purchases and balance transfers to new cardholders. The period is longer than average for a 0% credit card offer on both counts, according toWalletHub’s Landscape Report.
Capital One Quicksilver grace period
Capital One Quicksilver has a grace period of 25 days. The Quicksilver Card’s grace period runs from the end of each billing period to the due date. No interest will be assessed on balances during that time, provided the cardholder always pays the balance in full by the due date.
1.5 - 5% Cash Back on Purchases
The Capital One Quicksilver cash rewards rate of 1.5% cash back on all purchases is well above average. It's also simple and straightforward. You don’t have to worry about rotating bonus categories, earnings limits or other rewards trickery with the Capital One Quicksilver Card. On top of that, cardholders earn 5%cash back on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel.
What I Don't Like About the Capital One Quicksilver Card
High Regular APR
The Quicksilver Card's regular APR is 19.99% - 29.99% (V). In other words, the card’s interest rate could be slightly lower than average or a lot higher than average, according to WalletHub’s research. The exact rate you’re assigned depends on factors such as your credit history, income and existing debt when you apply. The average rate among credit card offers available right now is 22.89%.
As a result, you’d be wise to set up automatic monthly payments for your full statement balance each month in order to avoid interest charges when the Quicksilver Card’s regular APR is in effect. Your savings from rewards and the introductory financing promotion won’t last long in the face of such a high interest rate.
Balance Transfer Fee
If you transfer a balance to the Quicksilver Card, you may enjoy a low introductory APR, but this opportunity to save a bundle on interest charges is not free. At a minimum, you will have to pay a fee equal to a percentage of the balance that you transfer: 3% for the first 15 months, 4% at a promo APR that Capital One may offer you at any other time. The regular interest rate could also come into play if you don’t pay off your transferred balance on time.
Good Credit or Better Recommended
This is to be expected, but it would be better if even more people could get the Quicksilver Card. On the bright side, if you don’t have the good or excellent credit to apply for the standard Quicksilver Card – find out by checking your latest credit score for free on WalletHub – you may still be able to join the Capital One Quicksilver family. The Capital One QuicksilverOne Cash Rewards Credit Card (see ) is available to people with limited or fair credit. In addition, students with limited credit or better can get the Capital One Quicksilver Student Cash Rewards Credit Card (see ), and the Capital One Quicksilver Secured Cash Rewards Credit Card (see ) is an option if you have limited or bad credit.

Is Capital One Quicksilver a hard card to get?
Sebi Mitchell, Credit Cards Moderator
@sebim
The Capital One Quicksilver Card is fairly hard to get because it requires good to excellent credit for approval (a credit score of at least 700 is recommended). You also need a steady income to qualify for the Capital One Quicksilver card, among others.
Keep in mind that even if you meet all of the requirements for the Capital One Quicksilver credit card, you're never guaranteed to be approved. If you have less than good credit, you can consider the secured version of the Quicksilver card, the Capital One Quicksilver Secured Cash Rewards Credit Card, which is a lot easier to get.

Yes, the Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card (see ) builds credit, since Capital One reports your account information to all three major credit bureaus each month. Thank you Cap 1 for believing in me again after a financial crisis. I don't have the biggest unsecured limit ($300), but it complements my other two cards I have with your company. Sometimes you have to crawl before you walk again, and I truly thank you for helping me get back on track. Cap 1 truly is for the consumer, whereas other companies never give you a chance to redeem your prior issues; mine were medical. So for now, I have an overall $1100 limit with them after trying to rebuild in just 4 months. I know Cap 1 will have my back in the future. We need more companies like Cap 1 that understand life isn't perfect all the time.

I tried to transfer my credit card points from my Quicksilver card to my VentureOne card, and the dollar value dropped by half. I called Capital One and after trying for 20 minutes to speak to a representative, they said they can't reverse it. This company is disappointing. I recommend looking elsewhere for a credit card.

"Capital One is looking to charge their customers the $40 late fee(s) on a QuickSilver Card that I timely paid off the full balance, then I didn't receive any follow-up statements in the next 5 months (which made perfect sense since I had made no additional charges during the ensuing months). Then I see on my credit report months later (Feb. 2024) that I had 'unpaid' bills to Capital One of $98 on my QuickSilver Card, and I immediately call Capital One only to find out that I owed them $5.48 in daily interest that I was never billed for, plus several months of $40 late fees, plus a false bill from a vendor who falsely charged for a monthly bill that I had timely canceled the month before I paid off my Quick Silver account balance. In Feb. 2024, Capital One sends me a letter advising me that the vendor charge and the 'related late fees and interest charges' are being temporarily suspended pending resolution of the charges. Then, on March 15th, 2024, I received the first emailed statement (the first in over 8 months) telling me that I've accrued another $40 late fee on my account, this one being for the $5.58 interest payment that, to date, I have yet to ever receive a statement for after paying off my balance back in September of 2023. I've enjoyed a credit rating in past years of as high as 886 and can't believe that a credit card company would treat a customer this poorly, but beware of Capital One. They will charge you a $40 late fee no matter if you owe them a nickel or less, regardless if they have advised you of any outstanding balance on your account. That's a $5.48 daily interest charge that they never advised me by statement plus a $16.18 disputed charge by a vendor (a total of $21.66) charges that I was never advised by a statement, that Capital One charged me an additional $120 of late fees plus additional fees in interest for which, to date, I still haven't received monthly statements in support of.

I am 46 years old with a 800 FICO score, and I have never been turned down for credit. I applied for this card after being pre-approved, as well as having outstanding approval odds on credit karma. I was immediately denied credit after submitting my online app. I have a 6 figure salary, no missed payments, no high house payment or bills, expendable income. I literally have no words right now. I check my credit report, and there’s nothing fishy on it. I can’t believe that my credit denial was immediately after using Capital One’s preapproval on their own website. Now I know why I’m 46 and never used this bank for anything.

Do not get this card. I paid off my card in full before the due date, yet the next month I received a bill for $39.11 in interest. I don't understand; I paid it off 8 days early. How can you charge me interest when I made no charges and paid it off in full? I will never use this card again. It’s asinine to do a customer this way

I too would stay clear of Capital One Quick Silver! They are just trying to stick you for daily interest charges and/or $40 late fees penalties! They quit sending me statements after I paid off my balance, then started sticking me for $40 late penalties on a $5.48 daily interest charges that I didn't know about!

Applied for the Quicksilver card and was approved. The card came with a $200 bonus offer if you meet the spending requirement within a three-month period. I met all the requirements and never received the bonus. I called customer service, and they claimed I selected the wrong card. There was only one Quicksilver card for me to choose from, and the offer on that card stated there was a $200 bonus. All Capital One customer service offered me was an "I'm sorry."

100% scam card and scam company. Maybe it's not for some, but it is for me 100%. Let me start here. I have perfect credit, an 843 score. I have never had a missed payment on anything. I have had this Capital One card for 8 years. I have never held a balance on it; I use it to 105% (yes, even over the credit limit) each month and always pay it off before the bill is even due. I have never ever held a balance, but yet they have 'never' increased my limit. I don't understand; it makes no sense. The reason given every time is 'not enough use on this card.' Well, not enough use? How can I spend more than the credit limit is? LOL, that's irrational, really irrational. How is this possible? A scam, that's how, as I believe the only way they will give a credit limit increase is if I hold a balance. And no, I never will, as I will never give this company even a 'penny' in interest. They should state these rules when you get the card. It's illegal to even do this. I am going to file a motion in federal court against Capital One on this, and I'll update this review when it's completed. They can't be allowed to do this without a disclosure.
