FALLOUT 76 ARMORS

Exploring the world of Fallout 76 and its scorched wasteland is no walk in the part. As a Vault 76 Dweller wondering around Appalachia, you will be exposed to various types of damage and threats.Good protection is the key to survival in the post-apocalyptic world. When everything you met on your way wants to shoot or eat you, you don't have much choice, you have to protect yourself. Getting solid Armor parts is critical right from the start, as it can protect you from Physical, Ballistic, Energy, and Radiation Damage. Luckily enough, the Loot yield in Fallout 76 is quite generous, and we also have the Crafting and Trading systems available. You shouldn't have much problem getting all the pieces together, and preparing for all types of enemies you may need to fight.

Fallout 76's wardrobe system allows you to customize your equipped Armor parts and pieces of your outfit so that you can maximize your protectionwithout sacrificing your character's looks. There is a total of 9 slots and 4 layers in this system, which combined with an abundance of different Fallout 76 Armors results in hundreds (if not thousands) of possible combinations. Below you will find all the so-called layers described:

1. The base layer - which consists of clothing that goes underneath your regular Armor called Underarmor like Jumpsuits, Shirts,and additions likeEyewear, Headwear, and Mouthwear. The "base" version of Underarmor provides no bonuses, but some Underarmor Items can be modded to provide additional attributes to your character. The Vault 76 Jumpsuit you get when you create your character is the first Underarmor you will have in Fallout 76, and quite commonly you will find BaseballCaps, Hats, Shirts, Goggles, Glasses, and Bandanas around Appalachia. In general, items from this group will rarely have any effect on your character, with the exception of some items like Ritual Bindings (increased Damage Resistance), Spacesuit Helmet (reduces Perception but increases your Resistance to Diseases and airborne hazards), Black-rim Glasses (+1 to Charisma), Gas Mask which increases your Damage Resistance at the cost of reduced Perception, and obviously the beforementioned Underarmor;
2. Armor parts - the core group when it comes to Armors in Fallout 76. Items in this group go on top of the base layer and provide the actual defensive attributes and other bonuses. You can equip a total of five Armor Parts which include: Chest, Right Leg, Left Leg, Right Arm, Left Arm. It's worth noting, that you can equip different types of Armors in each slot, just like a true scavenger would. There are numerous types of Armors in Fallout 76 which can provide three basic Damage Reduction bonuses via the following stats:
   Damage Resistance - which mitigates damage from Melee Attacks and Ballistic Hit;
   Energy Resistance - which mitigates damage from Energy Weapons;
   Radiation Resistance - which reduces the Damage from Radiation both environmental and from Attacks and Radiation Weapons;
   Supposedly the best non-Power Armor armor set in Fallout 76 is the Forest Scout Armor which offers nearly the same Damage and Energy Resistance as Combat Armor but has greatly reduced Weight, making it the best and the most efficient option in the game. You can find the pieces in the hidden bunker under Whitespring Resort in the production section and various Mods in the Military Wing. Combat Armor offers higher Damage Resistance and Energy Resistance, and it's easier to obtain, but its' higher Weight is a big downside. For example, the Brotherhood of Steel Heavy Combat can be purchased right from the vendor inWhitespring Mall. And since it's easier to get, you will also have no trouble finding all the Mods for all its parts by simply salvaging BoS Combat Armor parts. The interesting thing is about Marine Armor which is one of the game's official cover, however, it's far from being the best Armor in thegame. The good thing about it though is the fact that it provides additional Radiation Resistance;
3. Outfit - which has a mostly cosmetic role and has noeffect on your character's attributes. The outfit is a single piece of clothing that goes on top of everything else and determines how your character looks. Outfits can be found in the game or some more sophisticated ones can be bought with Atmos in the in-game store. They are often called Skins, as they completely redefine your looks regardless of other equipped Armor parts. While you would normally think that the best looking ones will be only available from the Atom store, you can still find very rare and expensive Outfits in the actual game. Fallout 76 is full of secrets and hidden treasures;
4. Power Armor - a truly Iconic piece of Fallout's history. Power Armor is the real trademark which appeared in all parts of the series, and it's also the most popular real-life merchandise we can think of. Power Armors have its' own group as they work completely independently on the regular Armor parts. You first need to find a Power Armor Frame called the Chassis (we have a complete guide with videos includedon where to find them with the highest chance of success) that you can hop into to "equip" a Power Armor. Using a Power Armor will nullify the effects of all other pieces of gear you have underneath. Power Armor has its own sockets for different parts which include: Chassis, Torso, Right Leg, Left Leg, Right Arm, Left Arm, Helmet, and a Fusion Core. Just like with the regular Armor, you can equip different versions of Power Armors in each of the slots, with the exception of Fusion Core which works as a battery for your armor.You will need to replace them when they are depleted. Power Armors are the most powerful types of Armors in the game, which on top of having the highest Damage/Energy/Radiation Stats available, will provide Strength, Damage, Carry Weight, and all other types of bonuses. Like most of the other Items in Fallout 76, Power Armors have a lot of open spots for modifications and becoming a potent Armorsmith can be very profitable for higher-level players;

All base Armor Parts and Power Armor Parts have a set of attributes that determine their stats and durability. Just like Weapons, Armors have a condition bar which is randomly generated when you Loot or Craft a piece of Armor (it's worth mentioning that having high Intelligence will grant you a higher chance to roll items with better Condition). Armors that have 0 Conditionwill offer no protection, so you have to make sure to repair them once in a while (or replace parts with newer ones). You can repair your Armor parts on Workbenches using Scaps and various Junk Items depending on the type of your Armor. Outfits and cosmetic Items have no Condition and can't break. Armors also have level requirements, which display what character level is required to equip it. Obviously, you will also see the most important stats on your Armors which are: Damage Resistance, Energy Resistance, and Radiation Resistance. Armors also have their Weight, which determines how much "space" they take in your Backpack. Power Armor Parts through weight nothing if you store them in the Chassis. Only the weight of the Chassis will be calculated, and all theparts put inside will not.

Like most of the Goods in Fallout 76, you can obtain Armors by Looting, Scavenging, Crafting, and Trading. Getting a good-looking and strong set of gear might be difficult because the best and Legendary pieces are scarce.
