Huntington Bank to close 34 branches, including 3 in Cleveland, in 2024 (1)

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Huntington Bank announced Friday that it would close 34 of its branches in early 2024, including three locations in Cleveland and seven total in Ohio.

The news came out of the bank’s third-quarter earnings report Friday morning. However, Huntington said customers at these branches have already been notified.

Huntington, which is headquartered in Columbus, said in its presentation to investors that it would consolidate its branch footprint in an effort to cut expenses. The 34 locations, scheduled to close in the first three months of 2024, represent about 3% of Huntington’s branches.

“We regularly review our distribution network (in-store and traditional) and make adjustments and improvements to ensure our mix of branches, ATMs and online and mobile banking continue to meet our customers’ evolving needs,” Kris Dahl, a spokesperson for Huntington, said in an email. “We make every effort to place colleagues in comparable roles so they can continue to be a part of Huntington, serving the communities they know.”

The closures will include the Huntington branch inside of Cleveland State University’s Berkman Hall, the branch at Euclid Avenue and East Ninth Street, and the branch at 11623 Buckeye Road in the Buckeye-Shaker neighborhood.

Huntington Bank is also closing branches a branch in Canton, located at 608 Raff Road SW, and three others in Youngstown, Warren and Genoa.

Huntington Bank reported profits of $547 million in the third quarter, down from $594 million in the third quarter of last year.
