OCT. 16, 1989 Sound Off Continued From Page 1 lem with our children being forced to go to certain schools is that parents have so little input. If parents found that one school was better than another and were able to change schools, the schools would be forced to straighten up because of the drop in enrollment. I also believe school board members should be limited to two terms," he added. There were a few people who said they've already selected the school they would like for their child to attend.

"If I could change to a different school corporation it would be Logansport," one woman said. "Logansport has more to offer than the county schools, and I don't believe the quality of the teachers in the school system in which I reside is the same. They'll do anything to get the child out of their hair," she said. Another woman said she would study the different school corporations in the area and select a school based on academics instead of on sports. "I believe teachers should not be allowed to teach only because of tenure. They should be evaluated each year," she said. Another woman suggested school corporations adopt a more modern approach to education.

Citing an April story in a magazine, she said she believes students in the 5 to 8-year-old group should be allowed a more hands approach to education instead of being stuck behind a desk. "They need more touching and exploring of the world around them," she said. 4 LPD. 8:56 a.m. Vandalism.
