Great environment for academic growth, the teachers are willing to help students succeed anytime of the day, they make time to help students. The students need more drive in classes, that is a at home problem. The ability to take classes at the career academy is great, the new curriculum and look is great for making students feel comfortable and with everything going on in this country we need the students to feel safe. The faculty of the schools are willing to give students consequences for their actions. In the career academy their is a alternative learning center and you barley notice it.

In my years in the Moorhead School district, it has been a bit of a rollercoaster. I am not sure if it is because when I was in elementary school I was more oblivious, But as I have matured I have found the system to have gotten worse. The food has been getting worse and worse over the years. When I first started attending Moorhead public schools the food was good and also looked edible. Nowadays I don't want to eat lunch from school because it does not look or smell appetizing; the taste is not much better. With changes made in the school, they have everything more locked down. If you are caught in the halls without a pass you can be sent to the principal's office. No one is allowed in the halls when class is in session. The front doors would also lock during class time so you would have to wait outside for someone to unlock the door. I can't imagine how that would have been if we had had some of the bad winter storms we get in Minnesota this year. Some teachers are better than others

This was an excellent school district. Small class sizes, language immersion programs, and excellent math instruction in elementary schools. When my son transferred to School District 196 in the Twin Cities, he said that his class was a year behind Moorhead in math. School District 196 did not have language immersion programs either. Not sure why District 196 is highly rated and Moorhead is not. In addition, the school district is very progressive and is investing in new infrastructure. They have built a new career academy, are installing an addition on to the high school, and installed solar panels at elementary schools. This school district was incredible. I was really sad to leave and now very worried about my son's education in the Twin Cities. I think it's highly over rated here.
