Promise, Price, and Power Of Redemption - Part 10 Lawson and Aaron Perdue - Charis Christian Center (2024)

Welcome friends to our broadcast. I’m so glad that you tuned in today. This is the final teaching of a two-week series where we’ve been teaching on the promise, the power, and the price of redemption. And we talked about this and we’re gonna talk about it today that the promise has already been made, the price has already been made, and because of that, we need the power of the Holy Spirit working in us. Redemption. Blessing. Praise the lord friends, I’m so glad that you’re here with us and I’ve got Aaron here. And we’ve been teaching for these last two weeks on the promise, the price, and the power of redemption. As we talked on this series, we begin to talk about the fact that the promise of redemption has already been made. The price of redemption has already been paid. And because of that, we can receive the power of redemption in our life today, which is really the power of the Holy Spirit. But, you know, a lot of people are, you know, just praying God move and in a sense, God already moved in Christ on the cross, and if he wouldn’t have, we wouldn’t have these promises. And what really needs to move is we need to move. And a lot of times people are looking for God to do something when in all reality he’s just looking for them to believe what he’s already done in the person of Jesus. You know, Jesus said three beautiful words on the cross. It is finished. That means that work is done. It’s complete. There’s nothing more that needs to be done. And when we look at Galatians chapter 3, it talks about this. In fact, Aaron, why don’t you go there to Galatians 3. This really puts this together in Galatians chapter 3, verse 13 and verse 14. But if you wanna read it Aaron, Galatians three 13 and 14.

“It says Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us for it is written, cursed it is everyone who hangs on a tree, that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

Amen. So Christ has already, past tense, redeemed us from the curse of the law. He did that by becoming curse for us when he hung on the tree on the cross. And he says He did that so that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. So that’s talking about that power of redemption, because Jesus died, because he shed his blood. Now the Holy Spirit comes and lives on the inside of us. And this promise really is the promise of the Holy Spirit that’s working and living in us as believers, because, you know, God already made the promise, and Jesus already paid for it with his shed blood. So another scripture that goes along with this is 1 Peter chapter 2, verse 24. 1 Peter 2:24 says, who his own self bear our sin. Jesus already paid for our sin in his own body, on the tree, on the cross, that we being dead to sin should live unto righteousness by whose stripes you were healed. See, that’s the past tense of redemption. It’s already been done. Man Jesus doesn’t have to take stripes again for you to be healed. God doesn’t have to move in heaven for you to be healed. You know what? God already made a promise. And Jesus already died and God raised him from the dead and he sent the Holy Spirit. Now we have to believe it so the Holy Spirit can begin to manifest those things in our life. Let’s turn to 2 Peter chapter 1. And we’ll read 2 Peter chapter 1, verse 3 and verse 4. But 2 Peter chapter one says this, “His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of him who called us to glory and virtue.” His divine power. God gave us everything pertaining to life and godliness. You know, not very many people believe that, not very many believers believe that. I have everything I need to do. Everything God called me to do, his divine power has given to us all things pertaining to life, all things pertaining to God through our relationship with Jesus. And Jesus called us to glory into virtue, the outflowing of the Spirit of God in our life, the outflowing of the nature of God. But I like verse 4. It goes on to say whereby or through our relationship with Jesus are given to us, exceeding great and precious promises. Man, the word needs to come alive to you. You know, some people say, well, God would just give me a word, man, he is already given you 66 books of them. Amen? His divine power, he says, he has given us everything pertaining to life and godliness through our relationship with Jesus who called us to glory and virtue. And through our relationship with Jesus, whereby are giving to us exceeding great and precious promises. What is your attitude towards the Lord? That by these promises we might be partakers of the divine nature, we might partake of the spirit of God, the spirit and life of God might be released through the word in us. Amen? And escape the corruption, the principle of death that’s in this world through us. There’s a lot of death and destruction in the world. But just because death and destruction’s going on in the world around us, we don’t have to participate with it. Just because the world’s going to hell in a hand basket, I don’t have to go with them. Amen. Praise God just because the world’s not receiving the promises of God, doesn’t mean I can’t receive, I believe in to receive these things. And so his divine power is given to us everything pertaining to life. I have everything I need.

To do everything God called me to do. I have no lack in any air in my life.

You don’t have to fall apart either when the world is just being crazy.

Oh, it’s crazy. There’s a lot of craziness in the world. Even I just heard recently, but there was a formal letter sent to the superintendent of the school district where a church is at and it’s a fairly conservative area, but someone’s, you know, pushing the superintendent to remove all Bibles from the libraries in the school district. And I just found that to be ludicrous because the Bible is, you know, the number one bestselling book of all time. You know, there’s so much literature that’s based upon the Bible. So just to remove it, like it actually removes a great deal of academic credibility. You know, if you’re trying to study out a lot of literature, a lot of history, the Bible is intertwined with it. You know, even, you know, Abraham Lincoln gave this great speech, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” So if you’re researching that speech, he’s quoting from scripture, he is quoting from Jesus.

And how can you know that if you’ve removed the Bible from your, you know, it’s just insane that people would even, you know, want that, you know, be appealing for that. It’s just that very strong antichrist spirit.

Power in life of God. There’s power in life of, you know, Aaron, for 70 years, they tried to take the Bible out of this former Soviet Union. And those people that were pushing that are dead, most of ’em are probably in hell.

Even, you know, for my dissertation to get my doctorate from Rice University in music, I was, you know, studying and interviewing, researching, analyzing music by a living composer. She’s a Jewish composer from Israel, one of the first, I think she was the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize in music. But she had scripture in her music in Hebrew. So I actually, you know, researched out which scripture she used and quoted the Bible in my dissertation. And, you know, in the bibliography works cited, I quoted, you know, the Bible and talked about how, you know, these certain verses that she used from Psalm, you know, why she picked those for, you know, what she was doing, you know, artistically with music. So like to remove the Bible from an academic, it’s just insane.

You know, it just shows us they’re afraid because there is power and there is life in the word. There’s, you know, over a hundred countries in the world, I believe where the Bible’s illegal. I mean, I don’t know how many, there’s a lot of ’em.

They’re not great places either.

No. And they’re afraid of the word of God because of the word, if God wasn’t real, and if the word didn’t have power, why are they afraid of it? Because they know there’s power. There’s life in this book. There’s life in the words. This is the life. This is not a dead history book that, you know, this word has power. One word from God can change your life. And, you know, many of the words I’ve received from God over time have come right outta the scripture. As, you know, somebody’s preaching, the word will just come alive to me, or God will wake me up and give me a scripture as I’m reading, he’ll just quicken a scripture to me. I know we recently had Mark Hankins, and he was preaching here, and he wasn’t reading this scripture, but as he was preaching, he said, I will beat down your enemies before your face. And there’s a thing coming up where these people that have been standing against the purposes and plans of God, and it’s gonna go to a deal we’re not, you know, and God’s gonna beat down our enemies before our face. When he said that, I stood up and shouted, praise God started glorifying him.

Well, it’s ’cause the word of God, it’s not just ink on a page. It’s not just a history book, it’s not just literature, it’s not just poetry, Jesus said the words that I speak, there are spirit and there are life.

I like what, you know, you were talking about this this Sunday that the words in my mouth that’ll make them fire.

Yeah.

From Jeremiah.

Jeremiah chapter 5, verse 14, God said, “When you speak the word, I’ll make it like fire in your mouth and it’ll devour the people like wood.” There is power in the word. I’ve seen the word change situations. I’ve gone through very dark times, difficult times because we’re in a world that’s been affected by sin and Satan, but yet I keep believing God and I keep believing, and he’ll give me things as I go through that. One time he said, you know what, if you make it through the famine, you’ll make it to the feast. You know? And the Bible says this in the Book of Job, that at destruction and famine, you shall laugh. You know, Joseph could laugh at the famine because he knew that what was on the other side of the famine, and God revealed certain things to Joseph and told him things. And because of that, Joseph made Pharaoh, the richest man on the planet. Joseph saved the people of God. It was for the purpose to save the people of God, to preserve a posterity in the earth of people who would stand up for the things of God and the covenant of God. But man, we’ve got the word of God. But there is a past tense that, you know, God made these promises to us and Jesus paid for them. But when Jesus shed his blood, now the Holy Spirit has come to live on the inside of us. And the Holy Spirit takes these promises and makes them a reality, a living reality in our life. As we were in that scripture in 2 Peter, chapter 1 verse 4 is through our relationship with Jesus, whereby through our relationship with Jesus, our given to us exceeding great and precious promises that by these promises we might partake of the divine nature. The word has the power to release the divine nature of God into your situation and escape the corruption or the principle of death that is in the world through lust. It was lust of the flesh, lust of the eye, proud of life that entered in, in the garden and led man into death. But God said, you don’t have to live like the rest of the world. You don’t have to let the principle of death that’s in the world, that the devil, right, he’s the God of this world. You don’t have to let that rule over you. While the world’s going down, you can be going up because you believe the word. Amen? And God will take the word and make it alive to you. God will show you what to do just like Joseph, even in the darkest of times, God showed Joseph before it happened, they’re gonna be seven years of tremendous prosperity following that they’re gonna be seven years of tremendous poverty. But he said, listen, Joseph, this is what you do. Joseph told Pharaoh, this is what to do. Pharaoh said, can we find anybody like Joseph in whom the spirit of God is in? And so as we’ve been teaching this series, you know, we’ve been teaching on the promise of redemption, the price of redemption, and the power of redemption. We said, the promise of redemption has already been made. This Bible is a book of redemption. You know, Jesus paid for our redemption. The price of redemption has already been paid. But you know what? It’s the power the Holy Spirit is working today on the earth, and he works through us. And when you believe God, when you believe his promises, and when you know that Jesus has already paid for these things and you start believing it, then you know what? You start seeing what God promised come to pass in your life. You know, there’s a lot of people that are gonna miss out on God’s goodness because they just didn’t believe it. You know and we just need to start believing it. And, you know, God gave your wife Heather a word, and I’m gonna be preaching on it in this series, but you’ve gotta praise me, you’ve gotta glorify me before you see the answer while the walls are still standing, you know? And she started praising God and glorifying God about a certain thing that she was dealing with. And man, she saw victory. Sometimes it takes a while, the bigger the victories are, usually the longer they take. But you know what? You keep believing God and good things are gonna happen. Amen? So I’m gonna keep believing God. We’re gonna take a short break and we’re gonna be back after this, and we’re gonna be concluding really this series on the promise, price, and power of redemption. We’ll be talking more about the Holy Spirit and his present day work. And so stay tuned. We’ll be right back. Friends Thanks so much for being with us today. I’ve been teaching on the promise, the price, and the power of redemption. The world has tried to change the value of what is truth. So what is truth? Jesus is the embodiment of truth. Jesus said in John chapter 14, verse 6, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father except by me.”

Friends, I’m so glad that you’re still with us. We’ve been sharing all of this week, all of last week on the promise, price, and power of redemption. Today we’re talking about the power of redemption. And we talked really, in yesterday’s broadcast, some about this. But in Ephesians chapter 1, verse 13, it says “That God sealed us with the Holy Spirit of promise.” He says in verse 14, which is the earnest, the guarantee of our redemption until the purchase of the, go ahead, you wanna read that Ephesians chapter 1, I can read it. Ephesians chapter 1, verse 13 and verse 14, we’ve been sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise until the redemption of the purchase possession to the praise of the of His glory. Amen? So the Holy Spirit is that guarantee of what God promised and what Jesus paid for in our life until Jesus comes again. Amen? And then we moved over to Romans chapter 8, and we in Romans chapter 8, in the first seven chapter of Romans, the Spirit is only mentioned a couple times, and then you get into Romans 8, and the Holy Spirit is mentioned over 15 times. And so we talked about this. We have the spirit of God in us. Amen? And because we have the spirit of God, we are led into freedom, we’re led into victory, we’re led into authority. All of these things because of the spirit of God. And he goes on after he talks about being led by the spirit of God. He says, for as many in Romans 8:14, “as are led by the spirit of God, they are the sons of God. He says, for you have not received the spirit of a bondage again to fear, but you have received the spirit of adoption whereby we cry, daddy God.” Man, we cry, daddy God. He says, “And the spirit bears witness with our spirit that we’re the children of God.” I’m a child of God, and as a child of God, I’m a heir of God, I’m a joint heir with Jesus. All the good things of God are mine. He goes on and talks about the Spirit, gives us hope. And he talks about how in verse 19, “The earnest expectation of the creation waits for the manifestation of the sons of God.” The whole creation is waiting for Jesus to come back and then will be manifested as his own sons and daughters. “For this creature this body was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who subjected the same and hope.” It’s talking about how Adam brought all of humanity into sin. And he says, “Because the creature itself shall be delivered this body from the corruption, and the glorious liberty of the children of God, for we know the whole creation groans and travails in pain together till now.” The whole world is like in birth pains. That’s what the scripture’s talking about. When Jesus talks about in Matthew 24, these are the signs of his coming, so on and so forth. It’s birth pains waiting for Jesus to come. And not only they, not only the world, but ourselves who have the first fruit of the Spirit. We have the first fruit of the spirit. The spirit is the guarantee that Christ’s gonna come and get our body. He says this. “Even we groan within ourselves waiting for the adoption to wit the redemption of our body.” Man, I’m waiting for the redemption of my body. There’s some challenges that we sometimes have in our physical body, but we’re waiting till we get a glorified body. And it’s the spirit that gives us hope in that. And he says, “For we’re saved by hope. But hope that is not seen is not hope for what a man sees what’s he hope for. But if we hope for that, we see not then we with patience, wait for it, likewise, the Spirit himself helps our infirmities.” The spirit is helping our weaknesses. Man, whatever kind of weakness we have, the spirit of God helps us.” We don’t know how to pray like we should, but the Spirit himself prays, makes intercession for us with groanings that cannot be uttered. Man, we need to keep praying. We need to keep seeking God. You know, the Bible says we build up our most holy faith praying in the Holy Ghost until Jesus comes, man, we need to, or we go, we need to keep praying, we need to keep believing, we need to keep standing on the word God. He says, for we don’t know how to pray like we should, but the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings that cannot be uttered. We don’t know how to pray in an intelligent language. But boy, when you pray in the Holy Spirit, Paul says, “When I pray in the Spirit, my understanding is unfruitful.” 1 Corinthians, chapter 14, glory to God. We don’t know what we’re praying, but the Spirit prays perfect will of God through us. He says, “For he that searches the hearts,” who is searching our hearts? Jesus is the one who searches our hearts. Hebrews 4 verse 13 says, “All things are naked and open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do.” It says in verse 12, “For the word of God is alive and powerful and thank God Jesus is the living word.” And Jesus, the Holy Spirit touches the things that touch Jesus, gets ahold of him and he says, “He makes intercession the Holy Spirit with groanings that cannot be uttered because Jesus who’s searching the heart knows the mind of the Spirit because Jesus makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Man, Jesus is in the presence of God, praying for us the will of God and the Holy Spirit, when you pray in the Spirit, gets ahold of what Jesus is praying for us and what the Father has for us. Man, God has already promised it. Jesus has already paid for it. But it’s the Holy Spirit working in you and through you that gets a hold of what God has already promised and Jesus has already paid for.

I love Romans 8 verse 17. It says that “We are children than heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.” To be a joint heir with Christ. That means if Jesus gets it, we get it too. So if he was called righteous, we’re called righteous through him. If he’s called faithful, we can be faithful through him. We can have his joy. And the Bible says that he was anointed with joy far beyond his companion. So we can have the joy of Jesus.

Flowing in our lives. I love what you’re talking about, Aaron. 1 John, I was reminded this chapter 2 verse 6 says, “He abides in him ought a walk even as he is walked.” And Jesus was in the world. And man, when you read the gospels, not everybody was for Jesus.

And as he is, so are we in this world.

They attacked him over and over, but he didn’t get down. He didn’t let it beat him down. He just kept going forward, kept doing the will of God, and we can do the same thing. We can keep doing the will of God.

Yeah, Jesus says that he was made manifest, that he might destroy the works of the devil. That’s part of our mission here on this earth as believers, we have that same mission that Jesus did to destroy the works of the devil. You know, the thief comes to steal, to kill and to destroy. But we are called to come against that.

And how do we do it? We do it by the spirit of God inside us. Amen? By the Word of God, the promise of God. This is what we’ve been talking about. Redemption is, the promise has already been made. The price has already been paid. Man, Jesus doesn’t have to go to the cross anymore. He already went to the cross. He already did this. He already conquered the devil. In 1 John 3 verse 8 that you just quoted, it says, “He that commits sin is of the devil. For the devil sins from the beginning for this purpose was Jesus the Son of God, manifest that he might destroy the works of the devil.” Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil, and the first place he wants to destroy him is in you. “Whoever is born of God does not commit sin.” We’re not in the practice of sinning. “For he the seed of God remains in him, the seed of Christ, and he cannot sin because he is born of God.” Your spirit is not involved in the sin. You have been born of God. “In this the children of God are manifesting the children of the devil. Whoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he who loves his brother.” So man, Jesus is living you. He is righteous, he is holy, he is perfect, he is pure. You have his victory on the inside of you. If we jump into 1 John chapter 5 he says this in verse 4 and 5, “Whatsoever is born of God overcomes a world.” You see, a lot of people think that overcoming sin and overcoming Satan is the goal of Christianity, but the goal of Christianity is a life-giving relationship with Jesus, because Jesus already overcame sin and overcame Satan for you. That’s why God gave Jesus, if we could have done it without Jesus, he wouldn’t have had to send Jesus. But Jesus came and conquered the devil, defeated him, beat him live, sinless, holy, perfect, and pure, went to the grave and conquered the devil and rose victorious. And now when you believe on Jesus, you are made a world overcomer, “whatsoever is born of God, overcomes this world.” He says, and this is the victory that overcomes the world. You say, well, I’m not overcoming. Well, you gotta believe it. He says, “Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the son of God.” I believe in Jesus. I believe he’s the son of God. I believe that God raised him from the dead and made him Lord over death, over hell over the grave. I believe that Jesus is Lord of heaven. He created all things. Lord of Earth. When Jesus walked on the earth, he lived as absolute Lord. And he was Lord over the grave. When he went to the grave, he conquered the devil and he rose victorious. And I believe Jesus gave the victory to us. And when we believe that Jesus is Lord, and confess him with our mouth, praise God, we can begin to operate in the victory that he already wants. Amen?

That’s awesome.

We can walk as Jesus walked. How do we do that? By the Spirit of God on the inside of us, we have been born of God. And we believe it, man.

We have power. Amen, we have the power of the Holy Spirit. So get out and use it.

Amen. And that’s what we’re really talking about. Take your authority. Rise up in the name of Jesus. Take authority over the works of the devil. Let the Holy Spirit have first place in your life. You know what? I can’t get hung up. Some people don’t receive it, but that’s not my fault. You know what, I don’t understand everything, but I know something.

Amen.
