Unable to access the web-based management page (192.168.3.1) of the router or unable to find the Wi-Fi network provided by the router (2024)

If you are unable to access the web-based management page (192.168.3.1) of the router or unable to find the Wi-Fi network provided by the router, this issue may be caused by HarmonyOS Connect being enabled.

1. Check whether the upstream optical modem/router supports HarmonyOS Mesh+

Some HUAWEI modems and routers support HarmonyOS Mesh+.

  • If the upstream optimal modem supports HarmonyOS Mesh+, and your router and the optical modem are connected via a cable, the HarmonyOS Mesh+ feature will take effect to automatically set up a network. After the network is set up, your router will sync with your optical modem's Wi-Fi settings. Your phone will then only display one Wi-Fi network, which is the Wi-Fi network provided by the optical modem.
  • If the upstream router supports HarmonyOS Mesh+, and your router and the upstream router are connected via a cable, the HarmonyOS Mesh+ feature will take effect to automatically set up a network. After the network is set up, your router will then sync with the Wi-Fi settings of the upstream router. Your phone will then only display one Wi-Fi network, which is the Wi-Fi network provided by the upstream router.
  • As the network is automatically set up using HarmonyOS Mesh+, your router is connected in Bridge mode. As a result, you will not be able to access your router's web-based management page (192.168.3.1).

  • Routers with a WPS/RESET (H or Hi) button support HarmonyOS Mesh+.

If you need to sync your Wi-Fi settings to use the same Wi-Fi name and password for relevant devices, retain the current connections. (You can also place your router in an area where the optical modem's Wi-Fi signal is weak, so as to expand the optical modem's Wi-Fi signal coverage.)

If you want to use different Wi-Fi names and passwords for relevant devices, do as follows:

Make sure that there is no cable connection between any WAN port on the router and any LAN port on the optical modem (or on the upstream router, or any wall-mounted network port), and disable HUAWEI HarmonyOS Connect.

  1. Restore the router to its factory settings.
  2. Power on the router, connect your computer to a LAN port on the router, or connect it to the default Wi-Fi network of the router.
  3. Open a browser, enter 192.168.3.1 in the address box, then click Let's Start and Configure network settings without a network cable connected. Select Auto-obtain IP and click Next. Then set the Wi-Fi name and password for the router. The router's Wi-Fi will restart automatically when the wizard is complete.

  4. Use the new password to log in to the web-based management page of your router. Go to More Functions > Network Settings > Link+ Settings, and toggle off the Link+ switch. (After the switch is toggled off, if there are other HUAWEI routers on your home networking, Link+ will not take effect on them.)

  5. Connect a WAN port on the router to a LAN port on the optical modem (or on the upstream router, or any wall-mounted network port) via a cable, then you should be able to access the Internet.

To re-enable Link+, follow the same steps to toggle on Link+, and restart your router.

2. If the issue persists, or the upstream optical modem/router does not support HarmonyOS Mesh+

  1. Check whether the IP address of your router's web-based management page has been changed.
  2. Verify that your phone or computer is connected to your router's Wi-Fi network (or your computer is connected to a LAN port of your router).
  3. Verify that your computer is configured to automatically obtain an IP address or that its static IP address is on the same network segment as your router's. (For example, if your router's IP address is 192.168.3.1, make sure that your computer's IP address is set to 192.168.3.*, where * is any integer from 2 to 254).
  4. From the Internet Explorer menu bar, go to Tools > Internet Options > Connections. Make sure that Never dial a connection is selected.

If you still cannot access your router's web-based management page, restore your router to its factory settings, and follow the instructions in the router's user manual to reconfigure your router.
