Brother Elijah K. Hill was initiated into Omega through Upsilon Sigma Chapter at Fort Valley State College (Now University) in 1968. He went on to serve as the ninth Georgia State Representative from 1993 – 1995. Brother Hill is a life member on all levels of the fraternity including his local chapter Omega Gamma Gamma.
On the chapter level Brother Hill has been and is still very active. He has served in various leadership positions and chaired many committees. While with Lambda Phi Chapter in Macon Georgia, Brother Hill served as Vice Basileus, Basileus and State Marshall. He was one of two founders of the Omega Gamma Gamma Chapter in Warner Robins Georgia where he served as the chartering Basileus and remained in the seat for the first six years of the chapter’s existence.
During those six years while in chapter leadership, Brother Hill organized and implemented the following Omega Gamma Gamma Chapter initiatives: Partners in Education, Food Drive, Adopt-A-Road (1991), QGG Talent Hunt (1992), Old School Scholarship Dance (1996), Mother’s Day Carwash, Sweetheart Banquet (1998), The Hot Shot Basketball Contest, QGG Easter Egg Hunt, the International City Football Classic (FVSU vs Central State University), Project Aspiration Community Service Program, and put together a chapter scrapbook that won first place at the Georgia State and 7th District Meetings. Brother Hill created the chapters first newsletter, The Que Page.
Brother Hill was recognized for his hard work by being selected by Lambda Phi Chapter as their Omega Man of the Year in 1983, Omega Gamma Gamma Chapter selected him their Citizen of the Year (1989), and the Founders Award recipient in 2013 and 2021. QGG renamed its annual high school scholarship The Elijah K Hill Scholarship in his honor.
Just as Brother Hill has worked diligently at the chapter level, his work on the state level is equally impressive. He has served on the Georgia State Council in a number of positions including: Region III Representative- 6 years, History and Archives Chairman, State Director of Recommendations, State Marshall (Lambda Phi), Achievement Week Co-Chairman, Assault on Illiteracy Program, Protocol Committee, Scholarship Committee Chairman, State Director of Undergraduate Advisors, NAACP & UNCF Chairman, State Registrations, Intake, State Life Membership, Voting Committee Chairman, MSP Chairman, By-laws Chairman, Georgia’s 50th Anniversary Gala Committee, Chief of Staff, Senior Advisor to four (4) State Representatives and 9th Georgia State Representative.
The State of Georgia was divided into four regions in which the State Representative’s responsibility is to appoint Brothers to serve as Region Representatives. Of the four (4) Region Representatives appointed by Brother Hill, three (3) went on to become State Representatives (Brothers Ronald Taylor, Marion Williams, and Wilbur Carver).
While serving the State over the years, Brother Hill created and implemented the following: A Georgia State Father-Son Recognition Ceremony, The Omega Ritualistic Workshop, The 1st History and Archives Awards Program, The 1st Advisor’s Workshop, Chartered Phi Delta Delta Chapter (Emory Univ), The 1st Omega Rededication Ceremony, The Current Reporting Policy and Criteria, The 1st NAACP Reporting Policy, and The Omega Brain Bowl. He served on the State’s first Car Tag Committee, presided over the 30th, 31st, and 32nd Annual Georgia State Workshops, Presented A Proclamation to Brother Robert Church, Georgia’s first State Representative, making Brother Church the first Life Member on the State level. Bro. Hill along with Brother John Cochran (State Director of Public Relations), created the first State of Georgia Newsletter called The Chronicle. Brother Hill also served as Chief of Staff for three State Representatives.
On the 7th District level Brother Hill has served as Director of Undergraduate Relations, MSP Chairman, History and Archives Chairman, Membership/Registration Committee, and Senior Advisor to the District Representative. He created and implemented: The 1st Undergraduate Summit under 7th District DR Brother J. B. Carter of Mississippi. This concept and name were adopted and is used today by IHQ, created the 7th District Omega Brain Bowl, created and implemented the 7th District NAACP/UNCF and the 7th District Artifacts and Memorabilia reporting and evaluation procedure.
On the International Level in 1997, Brother Hill was appointed to chair the Artifacts and Memorabilia Committee (Now History & Archives) by Grand Basileus Dorsey Miller. He was also appointed to serve on the International Headquarters’ (IHQ) Relocation Committee
On the State level, The Georgia State Organization presented Brother Hill the Superior Service Award four (4) times. In 1995, he was voted Omega Man of the Year and presented the Afro-American Award. In 2011, he received the Exemplary Leadership Award, the Scroll of Honor award in 2012, and in 2018 received the Bridge Builders Award.
On the District level former 7th District Representative Brother J. B. Carter presented Brother Hill with the 7th District Outstanding Service Award. In 1990, he was presented The Distinguished Service Award by 7th District Representative, Brother Henry Spears. He was presented the Dedication and Service Award by Former 7th District Representative Brother George Grace. In 1997 the 7th District voted Brother Hill the Omega Man of the Year. Twenty years later in 2017, Brother Hill was awarded the 7th District Scroll of Honor. In 2018 as a fifty-year member, Brother Hill was awarded the time-honored 7th District Bridge Builders Award.
In 2022 Brother Hill continues to work hard for Omega. He is still engaged with Omega on all levels and provides leadership whenever called upon. Brother Hill is married to his lovely high school sweetheart, Kathy Bryant Hill. From their 52-year union was one son, Brother Sean K. Hill who transitioned in 2017.
