If you purchased IBonds, etc. through Treasury Direct, you must go online to get your 1099 and it can be a pain.

Many farmers and other taxpayers have purchased IBonds directly from Treasury Direct over the last couple of years primarily due to the high interest rates being paid, at least for a year or so.

However, it can be a pain to get your year-end 1099. Treasury Direct does not send out Form 1099s via mail. Rather, you must go online to get your 1099 and the process can be a little painful.
