Ponte Vedra Beach From then until he retired in 1978 he was a consultant to a department store a vice president of restaurants And gift shops and owner of the McMillan Mattress Co all in Jacksonville Fla He also was a retail business consultant for the US State Department in Brazil and Iran While in Kansas City Mr Lewi also was a member of the Hills Country Club the University Oub and Central United Methodist Church of Kansas City He also was past president of the Merchants Association of Kansas City He was bom in Newark NJ and received a degree in business from Cornell University He moved to Kansas City from Maplewood NJ in 1950 He was a founder of the Newark (NJ) Boys Club He was a Marine veteran of World War II Survivors include his wife Belly Lewi of the home iwo daughters Nancy Webster Haddonfieid NJ and Linda BeaJ Prairie Village a sister Mabel Sias Short Hills NJ five grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren Services will be at II a Tuesday at the Fairmount Cemetery Missouri-Kansas division of the RH Macy Co Inc in the 1950s died Wednesday in a Sawgrass Ra nursing home Mr Lewi who was 89 lived in Kansas City from 1950 to 1959 said his daughter Linda Beal of Praine Village Beal said Mr Lewi known as or also served on the committee that brought the Kansas City Athletics baseball club to Kansas City Lawrence Earl Smith Jr said he would always remember Mr Lewi for their mutual love of baseball Smith worked with Mr Lewi to bring the here and later helped persuade Ewing Kauffman to purchase the Kansas City Royals think I enjoyed Al more than anybody who
